Percusso debuts New Time Signature Theory
Percusso is a step sequencer with a totally new type of time signature that can accurately describe complex rhythmic structures
Beats per bar over divisions per beat or bar
So the upper number describes the bar length, the lower describes how each beat or bar is divided up. For example 3/7 equals three septuplets, 3/(7) equals seven accents over three beats, 3/3 equals three triplets, at 120 bpm the three time signatures above take exactly the length of time. The same rhythms using current time signature theory would go something like this, 21/8 for the 3/7, 3/4 with a series of rhythmic ties underneath for the 3/(7) and 9/8 for the 3/3, at 120 bpm 21/8: 3/4, and 9/8 do not take the same length of time and therefore makes the layering of complex time signatures impossible
Percusso is a 6 track step sequencer with a powerful new time signature that makes complex rhythm layering possible
Break free from the duplet paradigm.
